A Bit About Kim
Kim is is mum of 2 beautiful boys (Roland & Edwin) and has been married to her highschool sweetheart (Liam) since 2017. She grew up in Newcastle but also has family in England and the USA. She is very grateful to have been able to travel extensively throughout her life, primarily because of this widespread family, and cherishes connection with her family and friends above everything.
Sport and Hobbies
Growing up, Kim wasn’t the most sporty individual. She tried lots of different things (Ice skating, tennis, trampolining, gymnastics, netball swimming etc etc) but never found anything that stuck long term. It was in 2012 that she first stepped foot into the gym (Fitness First Kotara, where funnily enough Kim first met Tom.. but that’s another story!) and started personal training sessions. From then, she was hooked and absolutely loved getting stronger and learning about all the different modalities of gym training.
Inspired by her progress, the people around her and athletes online, Kim decided to have a go at powerlifting and had a brief stint at competing in the sport between 2017-2019 until she fell pregnant with her eldest child, Roland. Although becoming a mum has completely changed her priorities and hasn’t been competitive since, she is still obsessed with weight training and strength sports and hopes to get back on the platform… one day!
Her other interests include reading, drinking coffee, attending live music and making memories with her family.
Career
Kim first started working at Next Gen in 2017 alongside running her own personal training business. As her PT business expanded, she decided to open her own gym space in 2020 with her husband and made a very difficult decision to leave Next Gen to pursue that dream. After a hectic but extremely rewarding couple years running the gym, repercussions of the pandemic and personal circumstances lead to the gym being sold and Kim leaving the fitness industry altogether after 7 years of a very fulfilling career. She has changed direction completely and is now studying at UoN to become a Primary School Teacher and is back at Next Gen Physio part time working on reception and managing our social media page. She couldn’t be happier to be back and absolutely loves being a part of the Next Gen family.
