A check-in with Tommy about his new role with the Knights!

We are all really proud to announce our expanded involvement with the Newcastle Knights for 2020! In 2019 we were lucky enough to cover the Junior Knights which was an amazing experience, something we learnt a whole heap from but definitely felt we had more to give to the red and blue.

After discussions with the club, a few months back we finalised a relationship to provide Physio for the following teams:
Juniors
Under 18’s Girls
Under 20’s
Reserve Grade

And super exciting on top of this, I was lucky enough to land a gig with the first grade squad. I will be covering around 10-20 hours per week, working alongside their two awesome full-time Physio’s and extensive High Performance staff. To be working with an NRL club in a professional sporting environment is something I have always wanted to do and so far, so good! Loving it BIG TIME.

From a “Next-Gen” point of view a lot of people have asked me what impact working more with the Knights would have on my availability in the clinic – the answer is… not much! I will still be seeing heaps of patients in the clinic with plenty of times available and also plenty of time to keep our crew under control (or attempt to, they probably control me more than the other way around!)

My clinical hours at Next-Gen are currently:
Monday – 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Tuesday – 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Wednesday – 6:00am – 6:00pm
Thursday – 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Friday – 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Saturday – 6:00am – 11:00am

As much as I love working with the footy boys, I truly love seeing any patient who just wants to move really well and try and stay pain free doing whatever they love doing. Anyone who trust’s us with their health, it’s a humbling experience! I don’t think I would ever want to work full-time for a sporting club because of this exact reason. The variation of people and relationships that are built in the clinic is incredible.

I’m really lucky to have such amazing staff at Next-Gen who I trust and generally just love to help support the clinic with this next, new step for us.
